Top Tips for Creating a Sparkling New Home

Getting your new property feeling clean and fresh is one of the first steps to making it feel like home. In fact, our recent home movers survey* revealed that over a third of movers get straight to work on the cleaning as soon as they’ve moved in – even before they’ve sat down for a cup of tea!

To give movers an extra helping hand, we’ve just added a range of P&G cleaning products to our Welcome Box, at no extra cost. With limescale remover, dishwasher tablets and a handy magic eraser for those stubborn wall markings, movers can now get their new home looking sparkling new in no time!

If your customers are looking for a few pointers on how to tackle the cleaning on day one, then why not pass on these handy tips:

Be prepared. Put on some old clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty or bleached, and gather all your cleaning products together. The process will be a whole lot slower if you need to keep stopping to search through boxes!

Clean from high to low. You don’t want dust and cobwebs falling onto your freshly hoovered floor, so start with the ceilings and walls first. Remove any cobwebs and give the walls a good wipe. Try removing any wall marks and scuffs with a specially designed eraser, such as the Flash Magic Eraser.

Look beyond the obvious. Tackle the areas you’re unlikely to clean again for a while whilst you can get to them easily, such as radiators, inside cupboards, skirting boards and behind appliances. This will give you peace of mind that your new home is as clean as it can be.

Conquer the kitchen. The kitchen is probably where you’ll be spending a lot of time once you’ve moved in, so make sure you give it a thorough clean before you unpack. The fridge, oven and stove will probably need the most work. Tackle stubborn limescale and water marks with a powerful limescale remover, and give the inside of the cupboards a good wipe with an antibacterial cleaner or bleach.

Brighten the bathroom. Give the surfaces and fixtures a good scrub to remove any lurking grime. Also think about replacing some inexpensive features, like the toilet seat and cover and shower curtain – this will really freshen the bathroom and make it feel like yours.

Then they can sit back, relax and enjoy their new home!
